As part of the AGRINOVA project, we are showcasing innovative practices that support the transition towards smarter and more sustainable agriculture.
One of the good practices identified in Greece is GAIA Sense, a precision farming system that combines field sensors, weather stations, and data analytics to help farmers make informed decisions on irrigation, fertilization, and crop protection.
The system has demonstrated significant benefits, including:
– Improved crop yield and quality
– Reduced consumption of water, fertilizers, and pesticides
– Lower environmental impact through more efficient use of resources
– Better farm management through data-driven decision-making
GAIA Sense is currently applied across various crops, including olive groves, vineyards, and cotton fields, highlighting its strong potential for transferability and replication in different agricultural contexts.
This good practice was presented by VETH (Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries of Thessaloniki), partner of the AGRINOVA project, during the expert discussions on smart farming best practices. Through its contribution, VETH brings valuable insights from the Greek agricultural innovation ecosystem and supports the exchange of sustainable solutions among project partners.
